Dr. Marguerite Critelli is a board-certified dermatologist with over 25 years of experience. She earned her M.D. from the University of Colorado and completed her Dermatology residency at UC Irvine, where she developed exceptional surgical skills further refined through her work at the Long Beach VA. Notably, her experience treating World War II veterans who served in the South Pacific provided invaluable insights into complex dermatological conditions.​ A pioneer in cosmetic dermatology, Dr. Critelli was among the first to master Botox, fillers, lasers, and sclerotherapy, blending artistry with science to meet individual patient needs. She excels in lip enhancement and utilizes Sculptra for natural facial and body rejuvenation.​
Howard Kurshenbaum, MD
Dr. Howard Kurshenbaum is a compassionate, board-certified dermatologist with nearly 35 years of experience. He's known for his patience and kindness, prioritizing each patient's comfort and well-being. Dr. Kurshenbaum earned his medical degree from the Medical College of Wisconsin and completed his dermatology residency at the University of Wisconsin. After a brief period practicing internal medicine, he found his true passion in dermatology. For many years, he served the San Diego community as a staff dermatologist at Kaiser Permanente. Originally from Chicago, Dr. Kurshenbaum earned his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Illinois after attending Northeastern Illinois University. He is board-certified by the American Board of Dermatology and licensed by the California Medical Board. Dr. Kurshenbaum is dedicated to providing exceptional dermatological care.
Kevin Patel, MD
Dr. Kevin Patel is a board-certified dermatologist specializing in Mohs micrographic surgery for skin cancer removal. He graduated first in his class from Chicago Medical School, earning induction into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. Dr. Patel's passion for dermatology stems from a deep understanding of the psychosocial impact of skin conditions. He is committed to helping patients feel comfortable and confident. His extensive training includes a Mohs surgery fellowship at Scripps Clinic under Dr. Hubert Greenway, who was trained by the technique's pioneer, Dr. Frederic Mohs. He also trained with Dr. Vic Ross, a leader in laser-based dermatological treatments. Dr. Patel's residency was completed at the University of Texas, Dell Medical School, and he also completed a preliminary medicine residency at Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School. He is a prolific researcher and author, with over 40 publications in dermatology.
Lawton Tang, MD
Dr. Lawton Tang is an award-winning, board-certified plastic and reconstructive surgeon specializing in cosmetic and reconstructive procedures. He offers a full spectrum of aesthetic options, from injectables like Botox to more extensive procedures such as breast augmentation. Dr. Tang's extensive training includes a medical doctorate from Ross University, followed by general surgery and trauma critical care training at Mount Sinai in Miami. He then pursued a fellowship in body contouring and breast aesthetics at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and a plastic and reconstructive fellowship at the Medical College of Georgia. He has also served as a clinical instructor at the University of Pittsburgh. Dr. Tang is passionate about education, teaching surgical residents from Huntington Memorial Hospital and USC, and actively contributes to plastic surgery literature through publications and presentations. He is fluent in Chinese, Spanish, Korean, English, and French.
Khaled Tawansy, MD
Dr. Khaled Tawansy is a highly skilled ophthalmologist and oculoplastic surgeon dedicated to providing exceptional patient care. His journey to becoming a leading physician began with his undergraduate studies at Johns Hopkins University, followed by his medical degree from the University of Michigan Medical School. He then pursued extensive training, including residencies at Henry Ford Hospital and the University of California, Irvine Medical Center. Dr. Tawansy's commitment to excellence led him to further his expertise at prestigious institutions such as Harvard Medical School, the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary, Vanderbilt University Hospital, and the University of British Columbia Faculty of Medicine, among others. He is board-certified in both Ophthalmology and Oculoplastics, reflecting his specialized knowledge and skills. Dr. Tawansy is passionate about helping patients achieve optimal eye health and specializes in treating a wide range of conditions, including cataracts, retinal detachment, and glaucoma. In addition to English, he also speaks Arabic, allowing him to connect with a broader patient community.
Sheryl Miles, PA-C
Sheryl Miles is a board-certified Physician Assistant with a medical degree from the prestigious University of Florida, College of Medicine, School of PA Studies. With a solid foundation in general medicine, Sheryl has cultivated extensive expertise in general, surgical, and aesthetic dermatology, making her a trusted provider for a wide range of dermatologic needs. Currently practicing in the vibrant communities of historic Pasadena, CA, and the picturesque Central Coast, Sheryl is dedicated to delivering exceptional care with a personal touch. Delise McEwen is a Family Nurse Practitioner specializing in aesthetics at DermaSpaMed. With ten years of experience in healthcare, Delise's journey began as a medical assistant, progressing to a Registered Nurse before becoming an FNP. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from California State University, Monterey Bay, and is currently completing her Master of Science in Nursing at the University of South Alabama. Delise brings a broad range of clinical expertise to her practice, with experience in both the emergency department and family medicine. Her passion for skincare and dermatology allows her to provide personalized aesthetic treatments while prioritizing patient care. Alex Liaw, PA-C
Alex Liaw is a compassionate and dedicated Physician Assistant specializing in medical and surgical dermatology. He holds both a Doctorate of Medical Science and a Master of Medical Science from George Fox University. Alex completed his undergraduate studies locally at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts with a minor in Art & Design. This unique background allows him to approach dermatology with both clinical expertise and a keen aesthetic eye. Alex provides comprehensive care for a wide range of acute and chronic skin conditions, including the diagnosis and management of skin cancer. He performs in-office surgical procedures with precision, prioritizing patient comfort and clear education to ensure the best possible outcomes. Deeply rooted in the Central Coast community, Alex has spent years volunteering with local organizations such as YoungLife and Front Porch SLO. He currently resides in San Luis Obispo and enjoys utilizing his creative talents in digital design.

Joanni Vargas is a medical assistant and also the office manager for both the Pismo Beach and Santa Maria offices. She coordinates the entire staff's scheduling and activities, helping to make the appointments with patients run smoothly.
